Pregnancy planning and preparation

If you are planning to have a baby, the first step is pregnancy planning. This includes visiting a gynecologist, undergoing medical tests, and preparing for conception.

Unfortunately, many women discover pregnancy unexpectedly. During early stages, important fetal development occurs, and unhealthy habits may still be present.

Pregnancy should be planned in advance. Contraception should be used until the planned cycle, and preparation should begin 3–4 months before conception.

Which doctors to visit when planning pregnancy

First, consult a general physician to check your overall health. Basic tests can detect hidden conditions.

If you have chronic illnesses, consult the appropriate specialist. Medications should be reviewed in advance.

A gynecologist visit is essential. Screening for infections and blood tests are recommended.

A dental check-up is also important to eliminate potential sources of infection.

If you are over 35 or have genetic risks, a genetic consultation is recommended.

Ideally, all examinations should be completed 2–3 months before pregnancy, and results discussed with your doctor.
