Human papillomavirus

Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers among women worldwide. However, it can be successfully treated with early diagnosis and regular screening.
The goal of screening is early detection. The main tests are the Pap test and HPV test.

HPV and Pap tests

HPV testing usually begins at age 21. If results are normal, tests can be repeated every five years.
A positive HPV test does not mean cancer. Only high risk types may lead to cancer.
The virus can remain in the body for years without symptoms and gradually cause cellular changes.

HPV vaccination early protection

HPV vaccination in childhood significantly reduces the risk of cervical cancer.
The most effective age is between 9 and 14. Vaccination can also be done later in life.

Treatment and early intervention

Cervical cancer develops gradually. With early detection it can be fully treated.
In some cases, minor surgery may be required.

Importance of regular check ups

The most effective prevention is regular medical visits and screening tests.
Early diagnosis saves lives.

Take care of your health and act in time to reduce risks.
