A normal pregnancy develops in the uterus. Fertilization occurs in the fallopian tube, and the fertilized egg then moves to the uterus where it continues to develop.
In some cases, the fertilized egg does not reach the uterus and remains in the tube. This happens in about 95% of ectopic pregnancies. More rarely, it may develop in the abdominal cavity or ovary.
Main causes include infections, congenital abnormalities of the tubes, surgeries, endometriosis, hormonal disorders, and abortions.
At first, symptoms resemble a normal pregnancy. Later, lower abdominal pain may appear.
It usually ends between weeks 4 and 6. If the tube ruptures, severe pain and internal bleeding occur.

If there is pain or bleeding, emergency medical help should be called immediately.
Rupture of the tube requires urgent surgery.
In some cases, medication treatment is possible. Early diagnosis is essential.
Timely treatment of infections and regular check ups are important.
