Unique Births
Every birth is unique; each one leaves its own special memories. During this extraordinary time, the doctor is on the same wavelength as the woman in labor, empathizing with her. Some births go smoothly, more often we have to work hard, and sometimes the process is more complicated than we would like. But when the doctor places the baby on the mother's chest, the happiness of that moment outweighs many of the challenges of our profession.
That is why memorable photos with children in my arms are always very precious to me. With many couples, we have gone through more than one pregnancy together, and I want to dedicate a special place to our repeat births. We didn't manage to take photos with everyone, but I would be delighted if you send your family photos—I would love to see how your little ones are growing. Recently, I assisted with the third birth for the family of Fatma and Metin:
How quickly time flies! It feels like just yesterday (back in Suleymaniya) I assisted with Fatma hanım's first birth. She and her husband Metin bey welcomed their little Esma into the world. But now she is already a 14-year-old girl, holding her little sister Elif (2.5 years old) and brother Tarık Eren (4.5 months) in her arms, looking at me from the photo.
